ALA Charter School is Now Open; Built in Just 20 Weeks

North Las Vegas, NV – DC Building Group completed the American Leadership Academy (ALA) charter school in less than half the time it typically takes for a ground-up project of this caliber. The 72,577 square-foot school, located at 777 E. Ann Road at Donna Street, broke ground in March and was constructed on an accelerated schedule to meet a fall opening date. Situated on 11 acres, this Kindergarten-8th grade charter school was constructed in just 20 weeks rather than its customary 52-week duration. DC Building Group superintendents Bill Purington and Dexter Martial coordinated with many subcontractors, vendors and faculty members to accomplish this incredible feat. The facility consists of 42 classrooms and the enrollment capacity is 1,250 students. Carhuff & Cueva Architects served as the architect of record for the new campus. The school’s inviting façade of brick and high concrete columns purposefully reflects a warm, colonial-style home. The modern gymnasium is fully equipped with retractable dividers, benches and basketball hoops, and two regulation size volleyball courts and two full basketball courts, a performance stage and an adjacent kitchen for cafeteria service. The main, outdoor playground is the size of football field, with natural grass, and four basketball half-courts. There are designated playground areas for younger children too. All the grounds are fenced. The charter school accepts students in grades K-8. ALA currently has eight charter schools in Arizona; the North Las Vegas location is the first one in the Nevada market.
