On Friday, Oct. 5, DC Building Group participated in the Nevada Contractors Association Construction Career Day. The event, hosted by the University of Las Vegas College of Engineering, brought together more than 1,000 middle and high school students with one goal: to educate students on the vast amount of career opportunities available within the construction industry.
Our team had a great morning speaking with students, educating them on the work DC Building Group accomplishes each and every day and where their interests may align. For some students, this was their first time learning what a general contracting firm is responsible for within the industry.
We also held a Lego building competition, where students could work in teams, to build a house in the fastest amount of time. The winner went to a Northwest Career and Technical Academy high school student setting the record at 8 minutes and 10 seconds.
DC Building Group is proud to be part of these industry-specific events that help to bring awareness to the careers available within the construction industry and help to build our valley’s talent pipeline. Thanks to the Nevada Contractors Association for developing such a great event, we’re already looking forward to next year!
